Texas raid made by mexican bandits

Malcontents steal cattle and people along border arm to repel attack.

El Paso, Tex., july 2.-Revolutionists made a raid over the Texas line at Comstock, Tex., last night and, stealing eight horses, they rode off, and drove 60 head of cattle from the ranch of Yeates & Prosser back into Mexico.
The people along the border at Comstock, Langtry and other points near the inter-national boundary are very uneasy as the result of the revolutionary or bandit activity. In Ciudad Juarez, opposite El Paso, the officials and leading businessmen have taken apartments at El Paso hotels for their families, while they sic up all night. Winchesters on their laps, and guard the town, in addition to the guard soldiers. The Sheldon hotel, in this city, alone has 20 rooms rented to Juarez families. Mayor Mateus has summoned 50 farmers from the district and each night they ride into the town, armed and remain at the city hall, ready for an emergency. The mayor sits in his office all night, armed.
All businessmen in Juarez have been notified that in case of attack they must prepare to defend their own places, and many remain on duty with guards. The Pleard brothers, who own the biggest store-the "Three B"- have 10 mean on guard all the night.
Juarez officially denied that a battle had taken place at Casas Grandes, as reported yesterday, but admitted there was great uneasiness test an attempt should be made to free some of the two score of alleged revolutionists in jail there, whose hearings are now in progress. One of the prisoners is a young man, son of the former district tax collector, and others are prominent also.
Mayor Mateus stated today that orders had been received to show no mercy to revolutionists if the city was attacked, but to shoot them clown.
