Eagle Pass, Tex., june
27.-Two companies of cavalry and two of infantry arrived in C. P.
Diaz chis afternoon and were distributed along the border to watch
threatened points. There were no new developments in the movements of
armed forces opposing military authorities. It is stated that the
forces that were repelled at Las Vacas are headed towards Durango.
Mail from Mexico lo Las Vacas passes through Eagle Pass and is
crossed over at Del Rio. Tonight all the mail of the pass two days
destined to Las Vacas and that section was returned to the Eagle Pass
postoffice for return to Mexico.
Information has been
received that four whole regiments, occupying sixteen trains, left
the City of Mexico this morning for the State of Coahuila, some to be
stationed at Viesca and the balance distributed throughout the
northern part of the State and on the border.
A report that
revolutionists plan La a-cate sufficient trouble on the border to
call forth the troops to this section and then attack the capital is
hooted, as sufficient troops are being held in reserve In all the
thickly settled portions of the Republic to make any uprising of
consequence impossible.
Collector Dowe of this
place passed through from Mexico and on to Del Rio yesterday to look
after Uncle Sam's interests and enforce the renevue. All is quiet in
C. P. Díaz. All rifles and guns of Eagle Pass merchants were
purchased yesterday by parties from Mexico.
